Xaver souhaite se marier avec Greta mais le père de celle-ci veut d’abord marier son aînée, dont personne ne veut. Il propose à Xaver un marché qui les arrangera tous deux.

Xaver wishes to marry Greta but her father wants at first to marry his elder daughter, whom nobody wants. He offers to Xaver a deal which will be convenient for both of them.
