Un palais où beauté et grotesque se rejoignent, où volupté et violence s'attirent. Dans ces chambres et couloirs sans fenêtre, espace de l'éros matérialisé, le film imprime sa torsion au langage, au son et au corps, qu'il soit dansant, langoureux ou hystérique.

Five figures ensnared in erotic innuendos is more appearance than reality : the poses can be interpreted as sexual simply by the shadows they cast. In the glowing light, they are actually five protagonists warming up for a night in the Burning Palace Hotel.

Mara Mattuschka, née en 1959 à Sofia (Bulgarie), a étudié les mathématiques, la pédagogie, l’ethnologie, la linguistique et les arts appliqués. Depuis les années 80, elle s’est imposée comme l’une des figures emblématiques du féminisme dans l’art contemporain, faisant de son corps le médium et le site de ses films, ténébreux et théâtraux, notamment via son double Mimi Minus. Chris Haring, né en 1970 à Schattendorf (Autriche), est chorégraphe et danseur. Il vit à Vienne. Avant Burning Palace, Mara Mattuschka et Chris Haring ont réalisé en duo Legal Errorist (2005), Part Time Heroes (2007) et Running Sushi (2008).

Mara Mattuschka, born in 1959 in Sofia (Bulgaria), has studied Mathematics, Education, Ethnology, Linguistics, Applied Art - painting and Animated film - before becoming an emblematic figure of radical Feminism Art. Since the early 80s, she has made her body the medium and the location of her tenebrous and theatrical short films, notably through her alter ego Mimi Minus. Born in 1970 in Schattendorf (Austria), Chris Haring is a choreographer and a dancer. He lives in Vienna. Together they directed Legal Errorist (2005), Part Time Heroes (2007) and Running Sushi (2008).
