JEUNE CINEMA POLONAIS

Le panorama propose une sélection de moyen-métrages polonais très récents. Des documentaires, des fictions et des films expérimentaux, tous réalisés entre 2006 et 2010. Dans ces films, c'est la société polonaise d’aujourd’hui que les réalisateurs questionnent. Mais ils se tournent aussi vers les années 80, celles de leur enfance, rouge comme le drapeau de Solidarność. Des préoccupations propres à une génération de transition, qui a vécu la chute du Mur et s'est formée à l'économie de marché.

Ces films parlent de l'immigration clandestine soumise à des réseaux mafieux, ils montrent la prostitution et le chômage: autant de maux absents du débat public jusqu'en 1989. Le passé ouvrier et le sens de la famille de jadis sont également interrogés. C'est avec une sensibilité poétique très singulière que les jeunes cinéastes révèlent la richesse de ces identités en formation.

Tous ces films ont été réalisés dans des conditions de production nouvelles, souvent difficiles pour le moyen-métrage. En 20 ans, la cinématographie polonaise a du repenser le financement de ses films tout autant que leur distribution. Soutenus par des institutions et des écoles, parfois autoproduits, ces films témoignent de toute cette nouvelle économie de production de plus en plus encourageante. Nous sommes touchés par cette jeune génération qui explore des langages cinématographiques et nous promet de beaux longs-métrages dans les temps à venir.

The panorama proposes a selection of medium-length films — documentary, feature and experimental films — made in Poland in the recent years (2006-2010). In this films, directors stress on today's Polish society in order to rise contemporary questions. Nevertheless, we cannot help noticing their approach of the past, of their past, during which imagination was painted in the red of Solidarność's flag. Born in the 70's, they grew up in the turning political context of the 80's, took part to the Fall of the Berlin Wall and lived in the economical expansion. Thus, the films give voice to a transitional generation.

 

Selected films deal with serious problems, such as illegal immigration submitted to parallel networks, prostitution and unemployment, that have to be faced since 1989 in the public debate. Workers' past and family loyalty are also questioned. Peculiar poetical sensibility becomes a cinematic way to consider the complexity of changing identities.

 

Polish cinema is now facing a new industrial context, rather difficult for medium-length films. In the last twenty years, financial means and distribution have been key objects of revaluation. Supported by institutions and film schools, sometimes self-produced, films inscribe themselves in this new production economy that surprisingly gives emboldening proofs. Young generation explores different cinematic languages and afford intense emotion. Opening the doors of future, this selection presents an occasion for everyone to lean over tomorrow’s Polish cinema.

That selection was conceived by members of organization film.pl : Magdalena Mazaraki, Ania Szczepanska and Mathieu Lericq. Organization film.pl is a french platform of dialogues and initiatives about Polish cinema. Created in 2008, it is founded on the idea that Poland is a fertile land of contemporary cinema.
