Musicienne de formation et artiste spécialisée dans le cinéma expérimental et les installations vidéo, Aminatou Echard travaille pendant quatre ans en Bolivie sur l’ethnomusicologie, puis se rend en Asie centrale (Kirghizstan, Ouzbékistan et Kazakhstan) où elle recueille de nombreuses images afin de mieux comprendre les liens particuliers qui se tissent entre les hommes et l’espace qu’ils habitent. Depuis 2004, ses installations ont été montrées à Almaty, à Berkeley et en France, dans de nombreuses manifestations artistiques. Elle a réalisé une quinzaine de courts métrages.
Trained as a musician, Aminatou Echard is an artist who works with experimental film and video installations. After four years in Bolivia where she worked in ethnomusicology, she went to Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan) to collect images and sounds, so as to gain an understanding of the specific relationship between people dans the space they inhabit. Her video installations have been shown in Almaty, Berkeley and France during various art exhibitions. She has directed over fifteen short films.
