The appropriation of urban space and the perception of architecture by the subculture of skateboarders. A dense visual texture of manipulated found footage of various skatevideos is accompanied by the voice-over of architectural theoretician Iain Borden.
Sangam Sharma, diplômée en création digitale à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts de Vienne en 2008, réalise depuis 2005 des vidéos attachées au paysage urbain et aux zones dites “de friche”. à travers ses films, elle essaie d’établir une connexion entre l’architecture moderne et ses appuis idéologiques, via un langage cinématographique approprié. Chacun de ses films (Gray, Flickerticker, Strings, Gefrorene Musik…) est l’objet d’une importante recherche littéraire préliminaire. Elle vit et travaille en Angleterre.
Sangam Sharma graduated from the Art and Digital Media department at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2008. Since 2005, she has been directing videos that are a filmic examination of urban landscapes and so-called wastelands. Her work is connected to modern architecture as well as the theoretic background of it, combined with film theoretic aspects and a very own cinematic language fitting the subject. She lives and works in the UK.
