Le Cap, Afrique du Sud. Dans cette société des plus violente et inégalitaire, un jeune blanc décide de tourner un film de gangster, avec de vrais gangsters. Mais auprès d'eux, la réalité le rattrape : leur vie, entre ennui et enfermement, est loin de correspondre à ses attentes.
In Cape Town, South Africa, one of the world's most violent and unequal societies, a young white film student sets out with his cameraman to make a gangster film, with real gangsters. But as he finally approaches them, reality catches up : their lives, filled with boredom and self-locking, is far from matching his expectations.
Teboho Edkins
Teboho Edkins est né aux Etats-Unis en 1980. Il a grandi principalement au Lesotho, mais a également vécu en Allemagne, en Afrique du Sud et en France. Il a étudié les Beaux Arts à l'Université du Cap, suivi par une résidence de deux ans au Fresnoy - Studio National des arts contemporains en France. Cursus complété par un programme de formation à la réalisation au sein de la DFFB de Berlin. C’est dans le cadre de cette école qu’il a réalisé Gangster Project, son cinquième documentaire. Teboho Edkins vit aujourd’hui à Berlin.
Teboho Edkins was born in the USA in 1980 and grew up mainly in Lesotho, but also lived in Germany, South Africa and France. He studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, followed by a 2-year post-graduate residency at le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains in France and by the post-graduate film directing programme at the DFFB Film Academy in Berlin, for which he directed Gangster Project, which is his fifth documentary. Teboho Edkins now lives in Berlin.
