Vanina aime s'enduire de crème solaire devant la cheminée en pierre, Vanina aime la fourrure fauve de son lapin Souci, Vanina aime sentir le parfum cuir du canapé blanc, Vanina aime contempler la lueur charbonneuse des yeux des femmes voilées sur les cartes postales de sa collection. Vanina aime chatter avec Eloïse sur internet. Mais par-dessus tout, ce que Vanina aime, c'est sa baby-sitter américaine, Mary Jane...
French Alps, February 2011. Vanina likes to rub suntan lotion on her bare skin in front of the stone fireplace, Vanina likes her rabbit Souci's tawny fur, Vanina likes to breathe in the leather scent of the white couch, Vanina likes to spend hours contemplating the charcoal eyes of the veiled women in her postcard collection. Vanina likes to chat with Eloïse on internet. But what Vanina loves is her American babysitter, Mary Jane…
Mati Diop
Née en 1982, Mati Diop est actrice (on l’a notamment vue dans 35 rhums de Claire Denis) et réalisatrice. Après un premier court, LastNight, elle intègre le Pavillon (laboratoire de création du Palais de Tokyo) et y tourne plusieurs vidéos. En 2008, elle réalise, dans le cadre du Fresnoy, Atlantiques, court-métrage internationalement primé. En 2010, elle réalise un nouveau court, Big in Vietnam, suivi un an plus tard par Snow canon, sélectionné en compétition à la 68e Mostra de Venise. Elle s’apprête à réaliser un film entre Dakar et l’Alaska, Mille soleils.
Born in 1982, Mati Diop is an actress (she has been seen as lead female cast in Claire Denis’ 35 Rhums) and a director. After a first short, LastNight, she joined the Pavillon (creative laboratory of the Palais de Tokyo) where she directed several videos. In 2008, she entered Le Fresnoy where she directed the internationally award-winning short Atlantiques. In 2010, she directed another short, Big in Vietnam, followed a year later by Snow canon, competing in the 68th edition of the Venice Film Festival. She is about to make a film between Dakar and Alaska, Mille soleils.
