Une poupée grandeur nature, un avatar, une intelligence artificielle peuvent-ils véritablement vous aimer ? A travers des histoires d’amour non-réciproques entre humain et non humain, le film montre autant de tentatives d’appartenir au monde et dessine l’avenir du Japon.

Can a life size doll, an avatar or an artificial intelligence truly love you? Through unilateral love stories between humans and non-humans, the film explores different attempts to be in the world and draws a picture of Japan’s future.

Alain Della Negra et Kaori Kinoshita

Kaori Kinoshita naît à Tokyo en 1970, Alain Della Negra en France en 1975. Ils se rencontrent au Fresnoy, Studio d’art contemporain. Ils travaillent ensemble depuis une dizaine d’années, mêlant expositions vidéo et cinéma : leur travail, à la frontière entre le documentaire et la fiction, interroge les identités virtuelles notamment à travers les communautés numériques et appréhende les nouvelles pratiques (jeux vidéo, jeux de rôles, Internet) comme une réponse à la solitude contemporaine. Leur premier long métrage The Cat, the Reverend and the Slave sort en France en 2010. Tout en collaborant avec des lieux tels que le Centre Pompidou ou le Palais de Tokyo, ARC, le Haifa Museum of Art, ils réalisent en 2016 le film Bonheur Académie, filmé lors de l’Université d’été des Raéliens en Croatie et préparent actuellement leur futur projet Rinko, documentaire au Japon.

Kaori Kinoshita was born in Tokyo in 1970. She came to France in 1997 to study art video at the Beaux-Arts in Dijon, before entering the Fresnoy Contemporary Art Studio. There she met Alain Della Negra, after he had been at the Beaux Arts in Strasbourg. They have now been living and working together in Paris for the last decade on the relationship between personal identity and avatars: virtual characters, masks and disguises, community events... They started with short documentaries before directing in 2009 the feature documentary The Cat, the Reverend and the Slave, where they portrayed real life Americans and they Second Life avatars in their everyday lives. In 2016, in the meantime they develop their new project, Tokyo’s new wives in Japan, they shoot a fiction in Croatia, Bonheur Académie (Happyness Academy), during the University of Happiness of Raelians (member of the UFO religion Raelism). They also regularly collaborate with art centers such as the Centre Pompidou and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Haifa Museum of Art.
